Jordan will host a meeting on Tuesday with U.S. and Syrian officials to discuss support for rebuilding Syria after more than a decade of conflict and the removal of former president Bashar al-Assad by an Islamist-led rebellion in December, the Jordanian foreign ministry said on Sunday.
Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shibani and U.S. envoy to Syria Thomas Barrack are expected to attend the talks.
The announcement comes days after Damascus signed 12 investment agreements worth $14 billion, including a $4 billion deal with Qatar’s UCC Holding to construct a new airport and a $2 billion contract with the United Arab Emirates’ National Investment Corporation to build a subway system in the Syrian capital.
