Jos the Plateau state capital is the connecting point for most travellers from parts of the north to the south, specifically travelling to the federal capital territory, Abuja through the city.
Director of press affairs to the governor, Makut Simon Machem said in a press statement that, Governor Lalong hopes that the Hospital when fully operational will take care of accident victims along the Jos corridor which is a major transit route linking many States in the North and Central parts of the country.
“In the event of an accident, victims resort to private hospitals which are expensive while the Jos university teaching hospital is sometimes overwhelmed with cases as coming from as far as Taraba state in the north east for treatment.”
Committing to providing orthopedic care for citizens, President Muhammadu Buhari signed into law a bill for the establishment of the Jos Orthopedic hospital to provide top class and prompt medical attention to victims, the bill was sponsored by deputy speaker of the house of representatives Idris Wase.
The governor assured of the cooperation of the Plateau State Government towards the successful take off and operations of the Orthopaedic Hospital.
Lalong said it is heart warming, in spite of many competing demands across states, the Federal government looked the way of Plateau State with another project that will impact positively in the life of the people.
On their part members of Wase equity project appreciated efforts of the Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives Ahmed Idris Wase who leveraged on his personal and official contacts to get the bill passed by the national assembly and subsequently signed into law by Mr President at such a critical time.
Publicity Secretary of the group Abubakar Muhammad Badu said, “When fully operational the hospital will impact positively on the health needs of Plateau State and the North Central Zone at large.
“The Jos Orthopedic hospital will eventually be affiliated to the University Teaching Hospital for technical know how and speedy take off.”
Signing the bill on the Jos Orthopedic hospital brings to three federal establishments approved for Plateau state under the Buhari led administration.
