Jibrin Falgore of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, has emerged as the Speaker of the Kano state House of Assembly.
He emerged in a no-contest sitting at the State Assembly Tuesday morning.
He was nominated by Honourable Lawal Usaini representing Dala local government and supported by the member representing Takai local government.
Honourable, Mohammed Butubutu, also of the NNPP- from Rimigado local government emerged as the Deputy speaker after nomination by the member representing Sumaila local government and supported by the member representing Gwarzo local government.
After acceptance, declaration and swearing-in by the acting clerk of the House, Ali Inuwa MaJe, the speaker performed his first responsibility by supervising the swearing-in of all of the other members of the house by affirmation.
In the 40-member Kano State House of Assembly, NNPP has a Majority of 26 members, while APC has 14 members.
