Kaduna Assembly reconfirms Saratu Dikko as State Electoral Commission Chairman

The Kaduna State House of Assembly has reconfirmed the appointment of Dr. Saratu Binta Dikko as the State Independent Electoral Commission Chairman.

The confirmation followed the report of the committee which was set to investigate the petition given to her by the Assembly and other organisations which content was found to be same.

According to the Chairman of the petition committee, Honourable Yusuf Mugu of Kaura constituency, said his committee after given the directives to investigate the petition, swung into action and made its findings but realised that the content of the petition and that of the house was same.

“We had a methodology adopted at the committee level where we verified the verovity of the petition and information available to us shows that there were other petitions from other authorities, there fore in other not to preempt the position of those authorities, we decided that she should be cleared to resume office as Chain Siecom Kaduna state,” Yusuf said.

He stated that with her on the seat, they are sure of getting a free, fair and credible election as she was hardworking, God fearing and dedicated.

Dr. Saratu Binta  appreciated the honorable house for reconfirming her into the commission.

According to her “knowing that Kaduna state has done very well in my last tenure because we were the first to set the pace in the country and second in west Africa to use electronic machines to vote, this makes me glad as the national body is also looking to go same way. However, I congratulate governor Elrufai for that achievement.

When asked on what to do in other to ensure the mistakes made in the past are not repeated, she said they would try to work in the areas they have lapses, and they would also make sure that their data’s would be transmitted correctly without interruptions, as this would encourage citizens to go and vote.

She Added that, even the last election was not full of allegations, we are only aware that people were complaining because the election did not go as they wanted, and the beauty of democracy is that one can go to the court if he or she is not happy with the outcome of any election. She explained.

Meanwhile the house also screened Sanusi Aminu Yero, for appointment as the State Director General, Public Procurement Authority.

Sanusi assured the Assembly that he would  work diligently for good result to be achieved in all areas.
