Kaduna: Clerics, stakeholders call for peaceful election.

Muslim and Christian clerics, civil society organisations and other stakeholders have called on the people of Kaduna State to ensure peaceful conduct of the state local government elections.

They also called on the citizens to equally pray for an end to the security challenges bedevilling every sector of the state.

Pastor Yohanna Guru, General Overseer of Christ Evangelical and Life Intervention Ministry, Sabon Tasha, Kaduna emphasized the need for peace and unity before, during and after the election.

According to him, the local government election is coming amid the Covid-19 pandemic, security challenges and high cost of living, hence there is a need to sensitize the general public on the need to be God-bearing and promote religious tolerance.

“We pray for peaceful election in the state and that is why we are calling on the citizens to be law-abiding while respecting Covid-19 protocol during the election,” Pastor Guru said.

He commended the state government for the security arrangements towards the election and also appealed to youths in the state to shun political thuggery and drug abuse.

He noted that there is a need for every stakeholder to support the state government in ensuring the success of the election.

Malam Abdullahi stated that it is also the responsibility of every Nigerian citizen to support the government in promoting peace and unity irrespective of tribe, religion and cultural background.

An NGO that promotes peace and unity in the North, Zaman Lafiya and Arewa, under the leadership of Mohammed Auwal also appealed to the people of the state to equally support the conduct of a smooth and violence-free election.
