The Kaduna State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with development partners, has reiterated its commitment to improving health outcomes across the state.
This was emphasised at the launch of the 2025 Joint Annual Report, themed “Strengthening Accountability and Evidence-Based Planning through Joint Annual Review of the Health Sector Performance.”
Commissioner for Health, Umma Ahmed, underscored the need for a transparent, accountable health system driven by evidence and reliable data.
“This launch reflects our collective commitment to ensuring that our policies and investments are guided by accurate information, thereby guaranteeing measurable results for the communities we serve,” she said.
Describing the Joint Annual Review as a forum for reflection, learning and shared responsibility, Ahmed stressed: “Every action must be tracked, every investment analysed, and every outcome evaluated for its impact on the lives of our citizens.”
She credited Governor Uba Sani’s administration with revitalising, equipping and staffing more than 300 Primary Healthcare facilities, ensuring services reach rural and urban communities.

Thereport also highlights initiatives such as the recruitment of more healthcare workers, expansion of the Kaduna State Contributory Health Scheme, reduced maternal and infant mortality rates, the enactment of the Kaduna State Public Health Law, and improved emergency readiness through stronger surveillance systems.
Ahmed urged all stakeholders—including government bodies, civil society, and community leaders—to treat the report as a call to action: “We must uphold transparency, promote collaboration, and base our decisions on robust evidence.”
Sarah Kwasu of Alive & Thrive praised the collaboration, saying: “We’re excited to be part of this dissemination process, as it encapsulates valuable insights and learnings that will guide future implementations.”
Civil society representative Benjamin Maigari welcomed the review as a means of ensuring government accountability, urging authorities to address identified gaps and improve service delivery.
The event closed with a pledge from all partners to continue working towards quality, affordable and timely healthcare for every Kaduna resident.
“Let us engage openly, confront uncomfortable truths, and collaborate creatively to craft meaningful, equitable, and sustainable solutions,” Ahmed concluded.
