Kaduna Electric has introduced its mass metering scheme under the Distribution Sector Recovery Program (DISREP), a pivotal step to enhance customer service and promote energy accountability.
The program was launched at the millennium city, Kaduna where the Deputy Managing Director of the company, Abubakar Sadiq Mohammed, oversaw the first installations.
According to Mohammed, under DISREP, customers will receive modern prepaid SMART meters free of charge.

“Installation has started for customers on Band A feeders in Millennium City, with subsequent expansion to other regions.”
Mohammed reaffirmed the company’s dedication to empowering customers, explaining that, the initiative underscores their resolve to eliminate estimated billing.
“These smart meters will provide precise, real-time data and give you direct control over your energy consumption.”
He encouraged residents to cooperate with the installation teams for a seamless process.
“Your partnership is essential for this endeavor’s success and will hasten the deployment for a more dependable service.”

He disclosed that the rollout complies with the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) metering code as all the meters have been certified by the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency (NEMSA).
