Kaduna Government Prioritises Youth Empowerment Through Skills Acquisition

In a bid to combat youth unemployment and foster economic independence, the Kaduna State government is actively focusing on skills development and youth empowerment.

According to Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe. ‘This commitment was reaffirmed on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre in Makera, a project developed by Nigerian Breweries PLC as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.’

Balarabe emphasised that the establishment of the skills center aligns with the economic development agenda of Governor Uba Sani, which targets skills enhancement, economic empowerment for the youth, and proficiency in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

What Nigerian Breweries has accomplished here resonates deeply with the vision and priorities of Senator Uba Sani’s administration,” she stated.

A cornerstone of our government’s agenda is comprehensive skills development and youth empowerment.’

She however highlighted that, the skills center symbolizes ‘the birth of new opportunities, dreams, and pathways to economic independence for countless young people across our state.

She also noted that, by equipping the youth with practical, market-ready skills, the center aims to transform job seekers into job creators, thereby fostering self-reliance and significantly reducing unemployment.

Balarabe further explained that the impact of the Maltina Skills Acquisition Centre would extend beyond its immediate community. Beneficiaries will not only gain economic independence but will also contribute to local economic growth, strengthen their neighborhoods, and serve as inspirations for others pursuing self-development.

Additionally, the Deputy Governor mentioned that the state government is constructing three skills hubs across the three senatorial zones, aimed at training and certifying youths in various trades.

Under Governor Uba Sani’s leadership, she reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the investment climate in Kaduna State through policies designed to facilitate business operations, supporting growth, and contributing to shared prosperity.

Hans Essaadi, Managing Director of Nigerian Breweries PLC, speaking at the event, shares details about the entrepreneurship development initiative. He explained that the center will provide training in tailoring, shoemaking, hairdressing, and ICT, along with startup and mentoring support to empower beneficiaries toward self-reliance.

With these initiatives, Kaduna State is poised to make significant strides in youth empowerment and economic development, setting a vibrant example for community growth and sustainability.
