The Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, has presented a ₦985.9 billion budget proposal for the 2026 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly, outlining a comprehensive plan centred on renewal, resilience, and long-term progress for the state.

The budget places strong emphasis on capital development, allocating 71% of total expenditure to capital projects while dedicating 29% to recurrent spending.

This distribution reflects the administration’s commitment to infrastructural growth and improved social services.

Major Projects and Sectoral Focus

Infrastructure: Under the Roads Development Initiative, 140 road projects covering 1,335 kilometres are currently in progress. Notably, 64 roads have been completed and opened to the public, enhancing connectivity and boosting commerce across the state.

Governor Sani highlighted the launch of Northern Nigeria’s first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system, featuring ‘a 24-kilometre corridor serviced by CNG-powered buses, digital ticketing, and modern terminals.’ The initiative has reportedly saved citizens over ₦500 million through free and subsidised transportation.

Education: The administration has reopened 535 schools and returned more than 300,000 out-of-school children to classrooms. A total of 736 new classrooms have been constructed, while 1,220 schools have been renovated. Additional improvements include fencing 39 schools, drilling 165 boreholes, and installing 595 VIP toilets to enhance the learning environment.
