The Kaduna State House of Assembly has officially approved the 2025 budget proposals for the 23 local government councils in the state, totaling over N123 billion.

The budget approval followed a comprehensive report presented to the Assembly by Hon. Shehu Yunusa, Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation and implementation, representative for the Pampegwa constituency.

He outlined the committee’s thorough examination of the budget proposals, which involved extensive discussions with mother ministry officials from each local government.

Yunusa noted that the approved budget allocations are structured with a 60 percent focus on recurrent expenditure and 40 percent on Capital expenditure as presented by the local government chairmen.

This allocation is designed to empower local councils to undertake projects aimed at improving the living conditions of residents, aligning with the initiatives of Governor Uba Sani’s administration.

Additionally, some adjustments were made to the proposed budgets of certain local governments to further enhance their capacity to execute projects beneficial to their communities.

Yunusa urged local government chairmen to adhere strictly to the approved budget contents once they receive executive assent, emphasizing the committee’s plans for upcoming oversight visits to monitor performance and adherence to the budget.

Speaker of the House, Yusuf Dahiru, expressed gratitude to the committee chairman for his diligent work and assured that justice would be upheld in the deliberation of the report.

The approved budget, amounting to over N123 billion, was supported by a motion from Haliru Dagana, representative of the Sanga Constituency, and seconded by Danlami Stingo of the Kajuru Constituency.

The Assembly’s decision marks a significant step towards enhancing development and improving the quality of life for residents across Kaduna State’s local governments.
