Malam Lawal Makarfi, the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) gubernatorial candidate in Kaduna State, has promised to adopt the root-cause approach in tackling insecurity if he emerges as Governor come 2023.
Makarfi disclosed this during an interview with journalists in Kaduna State.
According to him, the best way to nip insecurity and insurgency was not to fight its effects but adopt measures that would address the root causes.
“There was a time we lived together in love and respect for each other’s religion was not a basis or criteria for relationships but was based on love, compassion, and empathy.
“Hence, the approach to tackle the menace is ideological and not a face-to-face fight.
“Ideological wars are won when you go back to the root causes, seat on the table to dialogue and reach compromises that would be beneficial to everyone,” Makarfi stressed.
The gubernatorial candidate also vowed to adopt an all-inclusive governance that would end the existing divide across the ethno-religious affiliations in the state.
“The PRP government would employ from bottom to top approach to governance, and by this, everyone in Kaduna would know that government is of the people, by the people, and for the people.
“We will bring people that are not there for themselves, but for the people irrespective of party affiliations.
“The PRP has a template of credibility, pedigree and capacity to take Kaduna from where we are to where we ought to be in 21st century civilisation and an economic hob of West Africa,” Makarfi disclosed.
Makarfi, a professional Quantity Surveyor, had served in various capacities in the present administration of Governor Nasiru El-Rufai as Special Assistant to the State Governor on Due Process and as Assistant General Manager of Operations at the Kaduna State Public Works Agency between 2015 to 2016, among others.
