Kaduna state reiterates commitment to end GBV, child abuse

The Kaduna State Government has restated its commitment to the elimination of violence against women and any form of child abuse in the state. The state Deputy Governor, Dr Hadiza Balarabe, stated this during the road walk exercise to  join the international community to mark the 16-Day of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, which also coincided with the World AIDS Day, on Friday in Kaduna.

The Deputy, Dr Hadi Balarabe and Wife of the Governor, Hafsat Uba Sani participated in a joint road walk in support of the campaigns.

According to her, the state government will continue to kick against any form of child abuse and will ensure that the perpetrators are being punished.

She called for more efforts  in ensuring that any form of child abuse was addressed at all levels.

“There is need to be more united to move forward in the fight on violence against women and child abuse. By next year, we will witness decrease in gender- based violence in Kaduna. Today is world AIDs day and we are creating awareness as HIV/AID is still a menace in our society and it is a joint effort betwern KADSACA and the Ministry of Human Services and Social Development. And it still can be something that can be interpreted as violence against women and  children,” she said.

Balarabe also called on all the stakeholders to take the message of HIV to  communities, adding that the  fight cannot be on an individual level.

She said, “There is need to put hands together, unite and speak with one voice. We need to remind each other that AID is still with us and we need to do something about it.”
