The Kaduna State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has urged nursing mothers to adopt exclusive breastfeeding to safeguard their children’s health and well-being.
In a statement released on Wednesday, to mark World Breastfeeding Week, NAWOJ Chairperson Comrade Sahura Maidoki, through a statement signed by the chapter’s Secretary, Comrade Hadiza Abdullahi, expressed concern over the growing number of mothers not practising exclusive breastfeeding.
She emphasised that proper infant feeding practices are crucial for reducing infant illnesses and mortality rates.

The association also expressed its readiness to collaborate with relevant health agencies and non-governmental organisations to support government efforts in promoting maternal and child health.
World Breastfeeding Week, observed annually from 1 to 7 August, aims to raise awareness about the benefits of breastfeeding and advocate for policies that support breastfeeding mothers globally.
