Kano Assembly Receives Request for Creation of New Ministries, Appointment of Commissioners

The Kano State House of Assembly in North West Nigeria, has confirmed request from the State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf for the creation of new Ministries in the state.

The Speaker, Jibrin Ismail Falgore said he was notified through a letter sent to the State House of Assembly by Gov. Yusuf, intimating the House of his administration’s intention to establish new ministries in the state.

Falgore read the letter before the members of the House, quoting the Governor to have said that, the establishment of the proposed ministries was part of his administration’s plans to improve efficiency and performance in the state.

The proposed ministries are Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Eradication, Solid Minerals Resources, Power and Renewable energy, Internal Security and Special Service.

Socio economic activities 

According to the governor, the new ministries would go a long way in improving socio-economic activities and delivery of good governance as well as putting the state at a vintage position for sustainable development.

Meanwhile, in a separate letter to the State House of Assembly Speaker, Falgore,  received the request of Governor Yusuf for the screening and appointment of four commissioners and members of the State Executive Council.

The nominees are: Alhaji Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Alhaji Abdul-Jabbar Umar Garko, Hon. Shehu Usman Aliyu Karaye and Alhaji Mustapha Rabi’u Musa who is the son of former Governor Kwankwaso.

The screening of the nominees according to a press statement by Chief Press Secretary to Speaker Kamaluddeen Sani Shawai is scheduled to hold on 2nd April, 2024.
