Voters in Shanono-Bagwai and Ghari-Tsanyawa Local Government Areas of Kano State turned out in large numbers to exercise their franchise in the ongoing bye-elections.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC resident electoral commissioner, Abdu Zango said the election was going smoothly despite little challenges like few broken vehicles on their way to polling units but generally impressive.
“As you can see your selves the election is going on in all places we visited so far, I am highly impressed with the level of work by INEC staff and Security personnel,” he said.
The elections, which are being closely monitored by security personnel, are aimed at filling vacant seats in the constituencies.
INEC has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy on vote-buying, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
Civil society groups and election monitors have also called for transparency and accountability, emphasizing the need for swift prosecution of electoral offenders.
