Kano: Court Orders Dismissal Of 44 NNPP LG Chairmanship Candidates

A Fresh Federal High Court order in Kano state, has sacked the 44 Local Government chairmanship and Councilorship candidates of the rulling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) that is before the state independent electoral commission for the conduct of Saturday’s election.

A court order obtained by Voice of Nigeria VON, sighted Muhammad  Babayo of NNPP and a faction of the party as plaintiffs.

The dependants in the case are the Independent National Electoral Commission, Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, Inspector General of Police and Director, Department of Security Services (DSS).

Details have indicated that, the originating summons was filed and dated 8th day of October, 2024, in the Court, presided by Justice Simon Amobeda.

The court has restrained the dependants from releasing the voters register to the second dependant and direct for the acceptance of list submitted by the plaintiffs.

“That the defendant is hereby restrained from releasing the voters register for the 2nd Defendant to conduct the proposed election on 26th October 2024.

“That the 2nd Defendant is hereby directed to accept as genuine and subsisting, the list of NNPP candidates submitted to it by the recognized State Chairman of the party Dalhatu Shehu Usman, which is in accordance with the party constitution and rejects any list of Candidate submitted to it by anyone else for the 2024 Local Government Election in Kano State.

“That the 3rd and 4th Defendants are forthwith restrained from providing security and protection to the scene of the Election plans to take place on the 26th October, 2024.”
