Kano: Dangote Skills Centre Matriculates 310 students

The Dangote Skills Acquisition Center in Kano State, North West Nigeria, has matriculated 310 students from across the 44 local government areas of the state, enrolled in the 2023/2024 Batch to learn 15 skills within six months.

The curriculum encompasses a diverse range of skills including Automotive Mechanic, Auto Body Works, Block Works and Concrete, Business Computer, Carpentry and Joinery, Catering & Hospitality, and Computer Engineering, among various others.

In his message to the matriculants, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by his Chief of Staff Shehu Wada, conveyed the government’s commitment to supporting skills acquisition for self-reliance, assuring the management of the centre. He gave assurances of the government’s unwavering determination to provide ongoing support to the skills centre.

“What we are after is the quality service delivery. Whether you are APC or NNPP if you are doing what will uplift the standard of living, I’m sure the Governor will support you,” he said.

He advised the centre to link up with other international skills acquisitions to broaden their knowledge for competitiveness.

“With these collaborations, you will advance your knowledge base because knowledge is dynamic as it will help in exchange of expertise.”

He advised the matriculants to embrace sacrifice and hard work to be self-reliant.

He challenged them to be ready for competition by creating a competitive space in their skills in other to remain relevant.

The Coordinator of Dangote Skills Acquisition Center El-Kasim Husseini Wudil said the centre is fully equipped with modern machines, equipment, and hand tools to adequately operate as a training provider in 20 different trades that are in high demand locally and across the globe.

He noted that it is the first comprehensive and well-equipped centre with a capacity to handle at least 500 trainees at a time under international standards and professional requirements in the whole of West Africa.

“In our bids to maintain the standard we adopted the National Skills Qualification Framework regulated by NBTE (National Board for Technical Education) with the National occupational standard developed by sector skills council as our curriculum.”

Husseini Wudil appreciated the support of the Dangote Foundation in carrying out their activities.

Other stakeholders who spoke enjoined the matriculants to be serious with the training and help themselves and society.

The Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Center was established by the Kano State Government to administer, coordinate, supervise, and regulate skills acquisition and entrepreneurial activities in the state.
