The NNPP presidential flag bearer in the last general elections, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has donated his personal house to serve as Majidadi Institute for Qur’anic Research and Advancement (MIQRA) dedicated to his father, the late Musa Kwankwaso at Kwankwaso’s residence in Kano state.

Kwakwaso disclosed this during a prayer session in commemoration of his 67 Birthday celebrations held at his residence, Miller Road Kano.

He said the Islamic centre is meant to provide access for Almajiris who would memorise the holy Quran to be trained and certified with primary, secondary and diploma certificates.

”They will undergo rigorous training in both English and Arabic studies with which they will use the certificate to join the academia and make the sky their limits in pursuit of knowledge.

”The institute is an idea to make sure that the streets were not only relieved of beggars, but also for those seen to be begging provided with life opportunities. “

He noted that the institute, which is carved out of his Miller Road residence, henceforth belongs to humanity in general.

“It has a curriculum in which men and women will be trained within the shortest possible time to get them primary and secondary certificates and give them diplomas in Islamic education. With this, they can go to university and the sky will be the limit for them.

“They will be given the opportunity to be certified and accommodated in the system.”

Earlier, Governor Abba Yusuf lauded Kwankwaso for the initiative which he said would provide a ground for further development in the education sector.

He said the State Government would rehabilitate the 44 Tsangiya Islamic Schools across the local government areas adding that the State Government would ensure the provision of required basic learning materials that would ensure a smooth learning environment.
