Kano Government Partners London University to Boost Education

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has unveiled plans to partner with the University of London to strengthen academic standards and advance research at Northwest University, Kano.

In a statement by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, the governor said the partnership would focus on faculty development, research capacity, and aligning the institution with international benchmarks to make it competitive globally.

Governor Yusuf stressed that education remains a cornerstone of his administration’s agenda for the development and prosperity of Kano State.

Emir Sanusi, while unveiling the plan, congratulated the Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, CON, on the successful completion of his PhD at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London.

Governor Yusuf said the doctorate was a well-deserved recognition of Sanusi’s contributions to scholarship, economic thought, family reform, and advocacy for social justice in Nigeria and beyond.

He described the Emir as an “icon of excellence” whose scholarship, reform efforts, and advocacy for social justice continue to inspire millions, praying for his sound health and wisdom to further serve Kano and Nigeria.
