The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for approving an ₦8 billion relief package for victims of the devastating fire at Singer Market in Kano.
The Governor said the intervention consists of ₦5 billion from the Nigerian Government and ₦3 billion contributed by the APC Governors across the country.
This was made known in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature.
Governor Yusuf described the support as timely and compassionate, noting that it would go a long way in easing the hardship faced by traders and their families following the inferno, which destroyed goods and property worth billions of naira.

He said; “the gesture reflects President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerians, particularly during emergencies and periods of distress.”
The Governor also praised the APC Governors for their solidarity, saying “their collective ₦3 billion donation underscores unity and shared responsibility among party leaders in responding to national challenges.”
The relief package was announced by Vice President Kashim Shettima during his visit to the scene of the fire at Singer Market.
Governor Yusuf promised that the funds would be managed transparently to rebuild affected shops and provide direct assistance to verified victims.
He said that the Kano State Government would collaborate with relevant federal agencies, party stakeholders, and market associations to ensure the fair and equitable distribution of the support.
He urged affected traders to remain calm, pledging that the state government would complement the Federal Government’s and APC governors’ intervention with additional measures to help them recover their livelihoods.
