Kano Governor Backs President Tinubu’s Nationwide Security Emergency

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has pledged the state’s full support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s recently declared National Security Emergency, reaffirming Kano’s commitment to the collective fight against insecurity across the country.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Sunusi Bature, the governor commended President Tinubu for what he described as bold and decisive actions aimed at tackling Nigeria’s escalating security challenges, especially those affecting communities in the northern region.

Speaking at the 34th Kano State Executive Council Meeting, Governor Yusuf said the nationwide security emergency represents a crucial step toward restoring peace and stability.

He assured that Kano State will work closely with the security architecture to ensure the success of the federal government’s directive.

“The Government of Kano State reiterates its full cooperation and unwavering support for all security agencies operating within the state.

“We remain committed to ensuring this national declaration achieves the desired results,” Governor Yusuf said.

The governor also addressed emerging internal security concerns, confirming that security agencies are already collaborating with the state government to confront the reported infiltration of bandits in parts of the Northern Senatorial District of the state.

He encouraged residents to remain calm, stressing that the government is fully alert and proactive in countering threats.

Beyond security, Governor Yusuf highlighted that the forthcoming 2026 budget will prioritise key sectors that directly impact national development, including infrastructure and human capital growth, reaffirming Kano’s role in supporting Nigeria’s broader development agenda.
