Kano Governor Fowards 7 KANSIEC Commissioner Nominees To State Assembly For Confirmation

The Governor of Kano State in North West Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf has sent a list of 7 commissioners and secretary nominees of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) to the Kano State House Assembly for confirmation.

The Speaker of the State Assembly Jibril Falgore read the letter on the floor of House.

Governor Yusuf noted that the Nigerian constitution mandates him to appoint the nominee for the various positions.

The nominees are Engr. Kabir Jibril, Dr Salisu Mohd Tudun Kaya, Shehu NA’Allah Kura, Isyaku Ibrahim Kenya, Hajiya Amina Inuwa Fagge, Garba Ibrahim Tsanyawa as Commissioners while Alh. Anas Mohd Mustafa as secretary of the commission.

The House assigned a standing committee on KANSIEC affairs to screen the nominee and report back in the next two days.

Already, seven permanent members of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission have tendered their resignation to the House with immediate effect.

Local government nominees 

The Kano State Governor also sent 17 nominees of the interim management committee members of each local government area in the state to the Kano State House Assembly for confirmation.

Governor Yusuf in a letter said the nomination is as a result of the tenure expiration of the elected chairmen and councillors of the local government on 12 February 2024.

He added that the appointment is based on the acts establishing Local Governments Laws.

Road construction 

Meanwhile, the Kano State House Assembly has conducted a first reading on a bill seeking for the establishment of the Kano State Government Printing Press 2024.

The Clerk of the House Bashir Idis Diso presented the Bill during the house session.

The session presided by Speaker Falgore called on the state government to construct a road from Bye-pass Kwanar ‘Yan Shana to’ Yangizo to Garu to Limawa all in Kumbotso Local Government Area.

The member representing Kumbotso constituency Mudassir Zawachiki said the construction of the roads will ease the hardship facing the communities of the area due to the lack of good roads.
