Kano Governor Honoured With Education Ambassador Award

The processes for the conferment of the Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, as the recipient of the 2025 Independent Newspapers Platinum Award for Education Ambassador have been finalised.

In a letter addressed to the governor, the management of Independent Newspapers Limited stated that the award recognises his notable investments, advocacy, and commitment to promoting child education in Kano State.

The management of Independent Newspapers stressed that ”if Sir Ahmadu Bello were to look back from his grave, he would no doubt be proud of you for sustaining his legacy of free education.”

The event scheduled to be held next week, Thursday in Lagos, will feature a public lecture titled, “Free Universal Education in Nigeria”: Progress and Prospects to be delivered by Professor Barth Nnaji.

The Newspapers hinted that a posthumous legacy award will be presented to the trio of Sir Ahmadu Bello, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and Chief Nnamdi Azikiwe at the event.

The event that would be chaired by an Elder Stateman, and former Governor of Osun state, Chief Bisi Akande, will have in attendance, President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.

Other dignitaries expected at the August summit include the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’adu Abubakar, the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi and the Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Alfred.

Captains of industry in the commanding heights of the economy and global leading lights in walks of life are expected at the event.
