The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf has empowered 5,484 youths with N150,000 each, totalling N807m and revived vocational skills programmes.
The move is part of his administration’s drive to curb social vices and boost youth development.
Speaking at the empowerment programme on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf praised the youths for their patience and steadfast support since the 2023 elections, describing them as key partners in his government’s progress.
“Your role in the 2023 elections was crucial. Your calmness and belief in this government motivated us to prioritize your welfare. Today, we are taking decisive steps to uplift you,” Governor Yusuf said, emphasizing that youths are central to his administration’s agenda..
“Today, we are giving N150,000 each, reviving vocational skills programmes abandoned by the previous government, and ensuring sustainable opportunities for all,” he explained.
Governor Yusuf further revealed that 345 youth organisations would help coordinate the programme and pledged its continuation through 2027.
He also assured beneficiaries that plots of land in Kano would be distributed to secure the initiative and prevent diversion.
