Kano Governor Signs 2025 Appropriation Bill into Law

The Kano State Governor in northwest Nigeria, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has signed the 2025 appropriation bill into law to the tune of Seven Hundred and Nineteen Billion, Seven Hundred and Fifty-Five Million, Four Hundred and Seventeen Thousand and Six Hundred and Sixty-Three Naira only (₦719,755,417,663.00).

The budget tagged ‘budget of hope, human capital and economic development‘ has a recurrent expenditure of 36% and capital expenditure receiving 64%.

Governor Yusuf had initially presented a proposed budget of ₦549,160,417,663.00 for the 2025 fiscal year to the State Assembly but was later increased to N719,755,417,663.00.

He said the new budget size now stands at ₦719,755,417,663.00, composed of recurrent expenditure of ₦262,670,660,562.68, representing 36 percent while capital expenditure standing at ₦457,084,757,200.32 represents 64 percent.

“The total expected receipts for the year 2025 are estimated at ₦549,160,417,663.00, out of which the sum of ₦85,718,779,890.00 is to be generated internally (IGR). 

“This shows that the internally generated revenue estimate accounts for approximately 13.8 percent of the total expected earnings for 2025. The remaining 86 percent of expected earnings is to come through Federation Accounts and Capital receipts,Governor Yusuf explained.

Governor Yusuf said the budget reflects his administration’s commitment to improving the lives of Kano state citizens through investment in infrastructure and poverty alleviation.

“We will enhance road networks and bridges, we will also empower Communities and stimulate economic growth.”

The Governor also pledged to prioritize education, health care delivery, Agriculture and Social Welfare to address poverty and create opportunities for the people of the state.

He commended the state House of Assembly for their commitment and passage of the budget.

The Governor signed the budget at the Government House Kano in the presence of Kano state speaker Jibrin Falgore and other top Government officials.
