Kano Governor Tasks Journalists to be Vanguards of Nigeria’s Unity

The Kano state Governor Dr.Umar Ganduje has urged the Nigeria Union of Journlaists, NUJ to be at the forefront of ensuring Nigeria’s unity.
The Governor gave the charge at the handover ceremony of two (2) new brand eighteen (18) seater bus donated to the Kano state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journlaists and the Correspondents’ Chapel by the Kano state government..

He said at a time like this when Nigeria is facing challenges of national unity and security, journalists should be at the forefront of promoting peaceful co-existence for national unity as well as ensure that challenges are turned into opportunities.
You should ensure unity in your write-ups and whatever you push out to the public because you are at the forefront and core part of the nation building process.”
 
“You should ensure that the differences we have among ourselves are turned into opportunities for a greater Nigeria,” advised Ganduje.
He said the donation of the new brand buses became necessary as it will enhance movement of the groups in the processes of gathering and dessemination of information to the public.
Upon our research, we discovered that the donation of the bus became necessary because the last time the Council and the Correspondents Chapel witness this type of occasion was 11 years ago.”
Sometimes when you have the need to go round and do your work, as we learnt, the bus you have at hand is not in good condition. Now that you have a new bus you can now continue to effectively do your work,” said the governor.
The state Commissioner of Information, comrade Mohammed Garba commended the Governor for comming to the aid of the NUJ Council and the Correspondent Chappel by donating the busses.
He said that Governor Ganduje is one among many Governors that “holds journalists in high esteem and always doing everything possible to enhance their work.”
He remembered that, while serving as a Commissioner and Deputy Governor of the state, Ganduje attracted “so many enduring projects to the Kano state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journlaists, including buildings.”
The Chairman Kano State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journlaists, Commrade Abbas Ibrahim thanked the governor for the gesture, saying “the donation is a dream come true.”
He promised that the facilities would be effectively utilised for the good of the people and good governance.
