Kano NNPP Crisis: Chairman Denies Knowledge of Senator Sumaila’s Letter

The Kano State Chairman of the New Nigeria People’s Party(NNPP) Hashimu Dungurawa, has denied having any letter from the Senator Representing Kano South, Kawu Sumaila asking him to apologize for an alleged libelous statements he (Dungurawa) made against him.
The NNPP Chairman said he was not aware of the said letter from the Senator. He described the said letter as rumor making the rounds.
“For me, I see it as rumor and rumor is created by enemy, accepted by a fool which I believe I’m not among.
“It has never been Addressed to me because I’ve never seen it. Take or leave it we are representing the public being him an elected officer, I remained the Chairman of the party and definitely people are watching us and are expecting us to do what we are supposed to. What ever we do we should remember that, we doing it for the benefits of public.
“I don’t see it as a problem if someone is suspecting me of anything , the highest thing I can do is to come out and deny it,” he said.
Speaking on allegations of suspensions and other issues within the NNPP, Dungurawa said, all was well with the party.
He warned that the NNPP would not allow anti-party activities by any member of the party including those holding political offices.
The Chairman said the NNPP has always ensured a level playing ground for all members of the party to pursue their legitimate ambitions,and therefore expects absolute loyalty from them.
Recall that Senator Kawu Sumaila(NNPP Kano South) had threatened to sue the NNPP chairman over a “libelous allegation” he made against him.
The threat was contained in a letter addressed to Dungurawa by Sunusi Musa (SAN) Managing Partner, Aliyu & Musa (SAN) Legal practitioners and Consultants.
In the letter which was dated Nov.12, the Silicitors said among other things that: “We act as solicitors to Senator Suleiman Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila (“our client”), who is presently a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Kano South Senatorial District. It is on his instruction that we write this letter.
“The attention of our client was drawn to a radio programme being broadcast at Freedom Radio frequency 99.5 FM, which is also on the Facebook page of the radio station and is being listened to from any part of the world. The voice clip is also published to various individuals and groups on WhatsApp and Telegram platforms in all parts of the world.
“By this letter demanding you, on behalf of our client, to,within 24 hours of receipt of this letter, retract the allegation in the same manner you made it.” The legal practitioners demanded.
