Nigeria’s Electoral umpire the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano state North West Nigeria, has declared Alhaji Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu and Dr. Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq both of New Nigeria People Party (NNPP) as the winners of Saturday’s rerun election at Rimin Gado/Tofa and Kura/Garun Malam state constituencies respectively.
The returning officer of the election, Prof. Ibrahim Tajo Suraj, declared that Alhaji Bello Muhammad Butu-Butu of NNPP polled 31,135 votes to defeat his opponent and candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) who received 25,577 votes.
Also, the returning officer for Kura/Garun Malam state Assembly Prof. Shehu Musa Galadanchi while declaring Alhassan Zakariya Ishaq as winner said, Ishaq of NNPP polled 37,262 to defeat Musa Hayatu Daurawa of APC who scored 30,803 votes.
Recall that the appeal court directed INEC to conduct rerun elections in 20 polling units in Kura/Garun Malam and 33 polling units in Rimin Gado/Tofa state constituencies of Kano state.
