Kano State constitutes committee to re-open Boarding Schools
The Kano State Government has constituted a five-member committee to fast track the re-opening of boarding schools across the state.
In a statement issued by Aliyu Yusuf, Director, Public Enlightenment, Kano State Ministry of Education, on Monday in Kano, he disclosed that the Commissioner for Education, Umar Haruna-Doguwa explained that the reopening of the schools became necessary considering its importance in the education system.
“The closure of the schools by the immediate past administration would be investigated with a view to find out the reasons for taking such a decision
“The committee will come up with facts on why and how the schools were closed down at a time when more of its kind are needed to accommodate the teeming students of the state.
“It would report to the ministry the current position of the schools as per infrastructure, physical structures and their security.”
He reiterated the government’s commitment towards ensuring sound policies and programmes to raise standard in the education sector.
