The Kano State Government has donated a 1.9-hectare plot of land, valued at N3 billion, to the newly established North West Development Commission, NWDC, for the construction of its permanent headquarters.

The land, taken from the premises of Abubakar Rimi Television (ARTV) Kano, was given free of charge as part of the state’s contribution to the commission’s smooth takeoff.

Governor Yusuf, while receiving the Chairman and management team of NWDC at the Government House, Kano, also pledged to provide temporary office accommodation with necessary renovations to facilitate the agency’s immediate operations.

Presenting the land documents to NWDC Chairman Isma’il Abdullahi, the Governor commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for establishing the commission and lauded the National Assembly for its swift approval.

He described the NWDC as ‘a crucial intervention to tackle the North West’s pressing challenges, including insecurity, hunger, and malnutrition.’

Governor Yusuf urged the commission’s leadership to prioritize projects that address socioeconomic development, social services, and environmental concerns across the region.

He also assured the commission of Kano State’s full support in ensuring a conducive working environment.

In response, the NWDC Chairman Isma’il Abdullahi stated that the visit was aimed at formally introducing the commission’s leadership and strengthening collaboration with the Kano State Government.

He assured the Governor that the NWDC would focus on delivering impactful interventions to benefit Kano and other states in the region.
