Kano State Governor Appoints Three Second Class Emirs

The Kano State Governor in North West Nigeria, Abba Yusuf has approved the appointment of three second class Emirs of Rano, Gaya and Karaye Emirates.

The newly appointed Emirs are
Alhaji Muhammad Mahraz Karaye, as Emir of Karaye who is until his appointment was the District Head of Rogo.

Alhaji Muhammad Umar, previously the District Head of Bunkure, is now the Emir of Rano. Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Abdulkadir Gaya, formerly the Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate, has been appointed as the Emir of Gaya.

A press statement by Governor’s spokesperson Mr. Sanusi Bature said, “the new emirates are to serve as second with Kano as first class emirate.”

While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf enjoined them to be custodians of culture, peace and unity of the people in thier respective emirates.

The Governor had signed into law three second class emirates in the state with Rano covering only Rano, Kibiya and Bunkure Local Government areas.

Gaya is covering only Gaya, Ajingi and Albasu Local Government areas while Karaye covers only Karaye and Rogo Local Government areas.

The Governor’s spokesperson said, the appointments are with immediate effect.
