The Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf, Leader of Kwankwasiyya, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, and the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II have attended the funeral prayer of the late Galadiman Kano, Alhaji Abbas Sunusi.
The funeral was held at the Kano Emir’s Palace presided over by the Chief Imam of Kano, Professor Sani Zahraddeen with mammoth crowd from within and outside the state in attendance.
A press statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature revealed that after the prayer, the remains of the late Galadiman Kano who was the father of the Kano APC Chairman, Abdullahi Abbas, was taken to Gandun Albasa Graveyard for burial.
Governor Yusuf described his demise as a great loss to the state and national traditional institutions, noting that Sunusi was one of the longest-serving titleholders in the country.
He expressed concern that the vacuum left by the late Galadiman Kano, considering his vast experience in the administration of the emirate, will be hard to fill.
He prayed to God Almighty to forgive his shortcomings and grant him the highest paradise.
At the house of late Galadiman Kano, Deputy Governor Gwarzo who spoke on behalf of the governor and government extended heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, praying for Allah’s Marcy to comfort the family during the difficult time.
Responding, the elders son, Abdullahi Abbas expressed appreciation over the concern shown by the governor and people of the state over the demise of their beloved father and prayed to Allah to reward them abundantly.
Late Abbas Sunusi passed away at the age of 91 after a prolonged illness.
He is survived by 35 children, wives, and many relatives.
