The Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of elder statesman, renowned industrialist, and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away at the age of 94 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates UAE.
In a statement issued on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, Governor Yusuf described the late Dantata as a towering figure whose life was defined by entrepreneurial excellence, visionary leadership, and an unwavering commitment to humanity.
“Alhaji Aminu Dantata was a foundational pillar in the economic development of Kano and Nigeria at large. His visionary leadership and business acumen created a vast commercial empire that provided thousands of jobs and contributed immensely to national growth,” the Governor said.

Beyond his business success, the statement highlighted Dantata’s enduring legacy in philanthropy.
“He invested generously in education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, and community development. His selfless commitment to improving lives will continue to inspire generations.”
Governor Yusuf lamented the great loss to the state and nation, describing the late Dantata as “a mentor, father figure, and elder statesman whose wisdom and guidance will be profoundly missed.”
On behalf of the government and people of Kano State, the Governor extended heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family and prayed for Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his loved ones the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.
