Kano State Governor Presents Appointment Letter To Emir Sanusi

The New Emir of Kano in Northwest Nigeria, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II has been presented with his letter of appointment as the 16th Emir of historic Emirate.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made the presentation at the Government House Kano on Friday, a day after assenting to the Kano State Emirate Council Law 2024.

The law dissolved the five Emirates and the Governor reappointed Sanusi who was dethroned by former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje who decentralised the Kano Emirate.

The Governor while congratulating Emir Sanusi urged him to be guided by the Islamic tenets.

He said; “May I urged you, your Highness to be guided in all your conducts by the principles and tenets of Islamic teachings as you are very well known with that.”

Governor Yusuf called on Emir Sanusi to use his position to unite all the adherents of the house of Mallam Ibrahim Dabo and also bring harmony as well as understanding among all the Islamic sects within the Emirates and the state.

He also, called on Emir Sanusi to deploy his wealth of experience in providing visionary and purposeful leadership in the Emirate in the trying time of the Emirates.

The Governor expressed optimism with the charismatic leadership qualities of Sanusi in championing unity and engendering development of the people.

Governor Yusuf enjoyed Emir Sanusi to reunite and rebuild the historic and well respected institution.

He also called on the Emir to move the traditions of the Kano Emirate to prosperity, peace and sustainable development.

He said; “Your reappointment to the throne of Mallam Ibrahim Dabo was guided by our collective and careful judgement about your competence, credibility, proven intellect and popularity not only Kano state, Nigeria but across the globe.

“We return Sanusi out of conviction that he was victimized in 2019.

“We also return him as the rightful Emir of Kano, to continue the good job he was doing for the good of Kano People.”

Commenting on the legislative process that led to Sanusi’s reinstatement, the Governor said, “Once a Bill is signed into law, it has become law and nobody can change that.”

The Presentation of letter to Emir Sanusi, attracted large turn out of people from within and outside Kano amidst jubilation.
