The Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf in Northwest Nigeria, has vowed to ensure justice for victims of arson attack launched by one Shafi’u Abubakar on a mosque in Gadan village, of Gezawa Local Government area of the state.

Governor Yusuf made the promise when he visited the victims in their hospital bed at the Murtala specialist hospital in Kano.

The Governor who condemned the mosque attack which claimed about 15 lives, vowed that the suspect would not go scot free.

According to him, “the suspect will not go scot free. Government and security agencies will follow the matter to logical conclusion to ensure justice for the victims (the dead and those on the hospital bed).

“From available records, it was a case of family dispute. The suspect felt cheated over sharing of inheritance. Instead of following proper channel to seek redress, he took laws into his hands.

The act has nothing to do with terrorism and political violence.”

Governor Yusuf said “the suspect would face full wrath of the law.

He should be charged to the Shariah court. We will implement whatever the law says on one who murder. We will not hesitate to sign his death warrant if found guilty and convicted by the court.”
