Kano State Governor Swears in Newly Elected LG Chairmen

The 44 Newly Elected Kano State local Governments chairmen have been sworn – in by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.

They Chairmen took the oath of office delivered by Attorney general and Commissioner of Justice, Barrister Haruna Dederi in Kano, after the Chairman Kano State Independent Electoral Commission KANSIEC Professor Sani Malumfashi presented them with certificates of return.

Addressing the new councils leadership which has one woman, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf employ them to discharge their responsibilities with the fear of Allah and work for the interest and development of the state.

To the chairmen and councillors, you saw how you swore, try and ensure that you did not derail from what you swore to do,” he stated

Governor Yusuf encouraged them to initiate projects that have direct bearing on the people.

“Come up with good projects, help the needy and provide them with all the necessary needs. Give priority to education, agriculture, health and help people especially the women folk. 

“Make sure you rebuild and bring reform in your various Local Government Secretariats. 

“We want those places to be as standard as it should be representing the executive arm of your LGAs. Bring everyone on board irrespective of political party inclination.

“The state government will continue to support you and work together and we will follow whatever you are doing to ensure that we all did the right thing. Be diligent and work hard for your people.

“I thank all the people of Kano who came out and voted for you and our party in an orderly and peaceful manner.

“We have never witnessed a peaceful election like this,” Governor Yusuf said.
