The People’s Democratic Party, PDP Kano State in North West Nigeria, has elected new Executives to run the affairs of the Party in the state.
Delegates at the state’s Congress have elected Alhaji Yusuf Ado Kibiya as the new state chairman of the party.
Alhaji Kibiya, who served as Commissioner for Agriculture under Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso from 1999-2003, emerged victorious in the election results announced on Sunday by Halilu Abubakar Mazagani, chairman of the election committee from the party’s national headquarters.
Kibiya secured a landslide victory, garnering 3,964 votes to defeat his opponent, Nura Nuhu, who scored 244 votes.
Abdul Fatah Muhammad administered the oath of office to the 39 newly elected state party leaders, including Kibiya.
In his acceptance speech, Kibiya thanked party members for their confidence and vowed to lead with transparency and inclusiveness, aiming to revitalize the PDP in Kano State.
Recall that the Kano PDP had been without executive members for over two years, leaving them without leadership.
The new leadership is expected to guide the PDP’s affairs in the state as the party aims to strengthen its presence and strategy ahead of upcoming political activities.
