The Kano State Government has received the report of a fact-finding committee set up to probe the alleged involvement of Transport Commissioner, Ibrahim Namadi in the bail process of a suspected drug baron.

The report was presented on Monday to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Umar Ibrahim, by the Chairman of the Committee and Special Adviser to the Governor on Justice and Constitutional Matters, Barrister Aminu Hussain.

Barrister Hussain explained that the committee conducted a detailed, impartial, and evidence-based investigation.

He said the panel interviewed the Commissioner, who submitted a written statement, along with other individuals connected to the case, including Abubakar Umar Sharada, Senior Special Assistant on Political Mobilisation, and Musa Ado Tsamiya, Senior Special Assistant on Drainages.

The committee also consulted relevant security and legal agencies, including the State Security Service (SSS), the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), to ensure a well-rounded and credible outcome.

“We obtained and reviewed certified true copies of all necessary documents and worked within the confines of the law. The process was guided by diligence, professionalism, and objectivity,” Hussain said.

He praised Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for allowing the committee to operate independently, describing it as a testament to the governor’s commitment to transparency and due process.

“His Excellency did not interfere with our work at any point, which gave us the freedom to carry out our mandate without fear or favour,” he added.

In his remarks, the SSG commended the committee for its professionalism and commitment to delivering on its mandate.

“On behalf of the Kano State Government, I express our sincere appreciation to the chairman and members of the committee. Your integrity, focus, and timely delivery of the report, despite public attention on the case, are commendable,” said Alhaji Farouk.

He gave the assurance that the report would be immediately transmitted to Governor Yusuf for review and appropriate action.

The Kano State Government is expected to study the findings and recommendations of the report before taking any further steps on the matter.
