Voting has continued peacefully in many centers where Supplementary election is taking place in Kano state north Western Nigeria.
The election recorded large turnout of voters, especially women.
Accreditation and voting commenced simultaneously as early as 8:30 am local time for the 2 National House of Assembly seats and 14 State Assembly seats
Observations at polling unit 030 Kurna Gabas, kwachiri ward in Fagge federal constituency revealed peaceful atmosphere with high security presence.
At Gobirawa polling unit 026 Kwachiri ward voters were also seen performing their civic rights in orderly manner.
An NNPP party agent Sadiq Zubairu said the election is going on peacefully. He said the little skirmishes that arose at the beginning of the election was quickly resolved with the intervention of security operatives
“Materials arrived early and the BVAS is working fine,” he said.
Amina Dauda who was on queue to vote on her part said the election is going peacefully without any form of harrasment from anybody
“I hope it will continue like this throughout the day,” she said
The presiding officer Abbas Ibrahim said the election was going on peacefully.
He says “Everything is moving on fine, over 200 people have voted in the polling, we 840 registered voters, we have more time and there many people on the line.
The supplementary elections for Federal House of Representatives are taking place in Fagge Federal Constituency and Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency.
The state House of Assembly supplementary elections are holding for 14 seats which includes: Ajingi, Danbatta, Dawakin Tofa, Gwarzo, Gezawa, Makoda, Takai, Ungogo, Warawa, Gabasawa, Tudun Wada, Gaya, Wudil and Garko.
