Kano Task Force Arrests 53 Suspected Thugs, Drug Dealers

The Kano State Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation has arrested 53 suspected thugs and drug dealers in various locations in the city.

The Task Force Public Relations officer, Superintendent of Police SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, revealed this to journalists in Kano.

According to Kiyawa, the Task Force, which comprised various security agencies, conducted intelligence-led operations at various criminal hideouts and black spots in the commercial city where the criminals were apprehended with different kinds of weapons, drugs, cannabis sativa and other intoxicants in their possession.

“The Joint Task Force Committee on Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation under the leadership of Dr. Yusuf Ibrahim Kofar Mata conducted targeted clearance operations in Yakasai, Kofar Mata, Zango, Zage, Zanzado, Rimi Market, Shahuchi Park, Kano Line, Sharada, Ja’in, Dan Agundi and Neighboring Areas.”

SP Kiyawa added that all the suspects arrested will be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

“The success recorded in the two-day operations shows a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat thuggery and substance abuse in Kano State.

“The composition of the committee, which brought together combined security agencies and government functionaries, is dedicated to sanitizing the streets of Kano and restoring peace to the communities,” he said.

Kiyawa noted that the Security Committee is committed in its mission to create a safer, drug-free and peaceful environment for the benefit of all the inhabitants of Kano State.
