To combat smuggling across borders, the Katsina area comptroller of Customs, Idris Abba Aji, has engaged with students from Government Pilot Secondary School and Umaru Musa Yar’Ada University, in Katsina.
During the engagement at the state command in Katsina, Comptroller Abba Aji highlighted the dangers of smuggling to the economy and humanity.
He also explained the importance of revenue generated by customs to the socio-economic development of the nation.
He said by engaging with students, the customs service aims to promote a better understanding of the command’s role in securing Nigeria and its borders toward fostering economic growth
Abba Aji enlightened the students from the two levels of education on customs procedures, history, laws, mandates, and jurisdiction.
“Let me use this opportunity to also express my gratitude to the people and all the border communities in Katsina state for their hospitality and cooperation which I noticed since my assumption of office,” he said.
Speaking at the engagement, the president of the student’s association, Comrade Mubarak Musa commended the comptroller for his warm reception and clear explanation.
