Kebbi State Governor in North East Nigeria, Doctor Nasir Idris, has urged the Nigerian Army to deploy more personnel to address security concerns in certain parts of the state.
This request was made during a courtesy visit by the General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigeria Army, and Commander Sector 2 Joint Task Force Operation Fansar-Yaman, Major General Ibikunle Ademola Ajose, at the Government House in Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris emphasised that additional personnel would complement the efforts of existing security operatives in the state.
He commended the commanding officer in charge of the Birnin Kebbi Battalion for prompt responses to security breaches, resulting in a 90% reduction in crime rates in Kebbi.
This achievement is attributed to the collaborative efforts of the Army and other security agencies.

The governor assured Major General Ajose that his administration would partner with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to combat crime and criminality in the state.
In response, Major General Ajose expressed gratitude for the governor’s continued support and pledged to intensify efforts to eradicate the Lakurawa sect.
During his visit to Kebbi, Ajose conducted a unit assessment and performance evaluation of the Army, focusing on areas such as Arugungu, Arewa, and Zuru Barrack.
Major General Ajose also requested the Governor’s assistance in renovating the Army children’s school in Zuru, providing medical personnel in Army camps, and supplying vehicles to enhance the Army’s operations.
