The Kebbi State All Progressive Congress (APC) inaugurated members of the State Caretaker Working and Non-Working Committees, as well as those of the twenty-one local governments.
Inaugurating the committees, the Kebbi State Governor, Senator Abubakar Bagudu, expressed delight that the committees would steer the affairs of the party and promote functional democracy.
Governor Bagudu who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Babale Yauri, added that the historic event was a great booster to democracy.
“This event was really democracy in action and I must commend the Caretaker National Working Committee, for this feat.
“It was a good development that the former members were allowed to transit and work for the next six months.
“I strongly believe that the members of these committees will live above board.”
He also expressed optimism that, with the planned validation of APC membership and the registration of new members, the party will grow stronger.
According to him, resultantly APC will record its third successive transitions at both the Federal and state levels. The Governor while pledging sustained support to the committees, also solicited for same from the people of the state.
In his remarks, the State Caretaker Chairman, Architect Bala Kangiwa, promised to live above board in the discharge of their assignment.
He lauded Governor Bagudu and the National Working Committee, NWC for reposing tremendous confidence in them and vowed never to fail them.
While addressing the committees and stakeholders, Kangiwa also said the whole structure of the party was dissolved in the country following the resolution of the National Executive Committee (NEC), in Abuja.
He explained that the development necessitated the formation of caretaker committees to steer the affairs of the party pending the election of new executives.
“Those inaugurated today are 16 Caretaker members Working Committee of our party, 17 including myself. We also inaugurated 19 Non – Working Committee and 21 Local Government Areas Chairmen of Working Committee of the party.
“We will arrange the swearing-in of the 225 wards’ chairmen next week. It is time for us to work together because we are growing stronger” he said.
He expressed optimism that the party would work together to ensure that the APC would continue to grow stronger across the country, especially in Kebbi state.
On the recurring security challenges in the country, the APC Caretaker Chairman stressed the need for all and sundry to actively play their expected roles in curbing the menace.
Also the Chief Magistrate of Birnin Kebbi Magistrate Court, Samaila Mungadi, administered oath of office and allegiance on the 17 member Working Committee followed by the 19 Non-Working Committee members and the 21 APC Local Government Caretaker Chairmen.
