Kebbi State Donates N50m to Assist Flood Victims in Kogi State

The Kebbi State Government has donated the sum of 50 million naira to the government of Kogi State to assist  flood victims.

Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, announced the donation in Lokoja unbehalf of kebbi State Government during a sympathy visit to the Kogi State Government.

According to Governor Bagudu, the devastating effect of the floods to the gains recorded in the agriculture sector is enormous .

Governor Bagudu says to his Kogi State counterpart that, “under your leadership, Kogi state is doing well in agriculture. We are competing in rice production but this flood would have reversed those gains.

“On behalf of the good people of Kebbi, I sympathize with you and the good people of Kogi State over the casualties recorded”.

This is among other donations from governments and corporate bodies to the state disaster relief funds.

The donations are expected to grow higher in the coming months as more donations trickle in to Kogi state government.

Responding, Governor Yahaya Bello excitedly thanked Governor Bagudu and kebbi State Government for identifying with the plight of Kogi State in this ‘trying period.’

Governor Bello, called on the Nigerian Government to support the state’s efforts at mitigating the effects of the flood.

Governor Bello also called on the Nigerian Government to complete the Abuja – Lokoja road, expressing fears that the flooding may destroy the Murtala Mohammed bridge under threat of flood.
