Kebbi State Enrolls Civil Servants Into Health Insurance Scheme
The Kebbi State Contributory Health Care Management Agency, KECHEMA, has started enrolling civil servants into the agency’s health insurance scheme. The Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr Jafar Muhammad-Augue, made this known at the official launch of the formal sector enrollment into the scheme in Birnin Kebbi.
“The formal sector enrollment was to make healthcare accessible and affordable for civil servants and their
dependents, adding that “more than 87,000 prospective enrollees are expected to be captured under the formal sector engagement. We are very hopeful that the incoming administration will continue from here and make it even greater.” Dr Jafar said.
Furthermore, he commended the labour unions and the state’s Head of Service, Alhaji Sufiyanu Garba-Ben, for their “untiring efforts in making sure that civil servants are enrolled into the scheme.” We also thank Gov. Atiku Bagudu for approving the formal sector enrollment into the scheme. It is not easy for everyone to pay medical bills, unless they are covered in social health insurance.
The state’s Chairman of Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, Alhaji Umar Halidu-Alhassan, expressed delight over the formal sector enrollment and called on the state government to contribute its 10 per cent share to enable the civil servants enjoy the services. He advised KECHEMA to comply with the rules governing the agency for the success of the scheme.
