Kebbi State First Lady, Hajiya Zainab Idris, has donated N20 million to the Association of Kebbi Women Entrepreneurs (AKWE) to support their business activities.
The donation was made at the opening ceremony of the two-day “KASUWAR SALLAH” mini-trade fair, held at the Haliru Abdu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi.
According to Hajiya Zainab Idris, the gesture aims to encourage women to participate in trade and commerce, and become financially independent.
She also directed the organizers to ensure that every participant benefits from the grant to boost their businesses.
The President of AKWE, Hajiya Maryam Bala, expressed gratitude for the donation and highlighted the program’s objective of providing a platform for women to showcase their trade talents.
She also said that five beneficiaries of last year’s grant have made significant profits, ranging from N500,000 to N1.5 million.
The event featured 200 vendors and aimed to reduce women’s dependence on their husbands.
Hajiya Maryam Bala thanked the First Lady for her continued support to women entrepreneurs in the state.
