In a bid to alleviate poverty and support the needy, the Kebbi State Zakat and Sadaqa Committee has distributed N30 million to vulnerable individuals across the North-Western state.

This gesture is part of the state government’s efforts to provide succor to the less privileged.

Governor Nasir Idris, who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Abubakar Umar Tafida, emphasized the importance of Zakat as one of the five pillars of Islam.

He encouraged wealthy Muslims to give out alms promptly, citing the benefits of earning Allah’s mercy and gaining respect from the poor and needy.

The Chairman of the Zakat and Sadaqa Committee, Mallam Umar Isah Magaji, advised beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously to improve their lives.

A total of 1,277 vulnerable individuals across 21 local government areas received N20,000 each.

Notable donations included 100 bags of rice from Senator Adamu Aliero, N10 million from Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, and N5 million from Deputy Governor Alhaji Abubakar Umar Tafida. These contributions will be disbursed to the poor and needy at a later date.

This initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to supporting the vulnerable and promoting Islamic values.
