Killing of Priest: Police Station sets ablaze in Niger State

The Nigerian Police Command in Niger State North Central Nigeria said some angry youths of Kafin-Koro Community has burnt down the Divisional Police Station in the area.

A statement by the Spokesperson of the Police Command in Niger State DSP Wasiu Abiodun said the Youths in the community mobilised and protested in Kafin-koro town over the killing of the Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi.

DSP Abiodun who further said a reinforcement team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police, “Operations has already been dispatched to the scene and normalcy has been restored”. He added that the value of items damaged by the fire is yet to be ascertained.

The Governor of Niger State Abubakar Sani Bello has earlier condemned in its entirety the rude and shocking killing of Very Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi, the Parish Priest of SS Peter and Paul, Kafin-koro and setting the entire Parish house on fire by unknown gun men two days ago.

The governor has also condoled the entire Christian Community in the State, particularly his lordship, Rev Dr. Martin Uzoukwu and his Auxiliary, Bishop Shuster Gropep over the killing of one of the state’s indigenous and dedicated priest and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Collins Omeh, all of the Kafin-Koro deanery.

 

Similarly the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Ogundele Ayodeji, also visited the scene where Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi was burnt to death and equally paid a condolence visit to the District head of Kafin-Koro and the Church members, with assurances that the Police Command will not rest on its oars until the perpetrators are brought to book.
