Kogi State Deputy Speaker Mrs Comfort Nwochiola has called on the State’s Ministry of Women Affairs to redouble its efforts in empowering, protecting and training girls in the State.

Mrs Nwochiola made the call while speaking to journalists at the State House of Assembly.

She expressed her deep concern for the welfare of girls, children and most especially persons living with disabilities.

According to her, since the creation of the State, the Ministry of Women Affairs has been in charge of monitoring schools, managing the amusement park established for the recreation of children and also the training and emancipation of women.

Unfortunately, at present as disclosed by Mrs Nwochiola, those activities are no longer in force.

She urged the government to support the ministry for better effectiveness.

“We call on the government to restore its lost glory. That is where the women can really have it good. We need to collaborate with the Humanitarian Ministry to bring out the yearning. We also want other ministry concerned to key into his benevolent method of ruling so that we all can have a better Kogi State”.

The Deputy Speaker explained how some laws have been repealed and reenacted in favor of PWDs and has expressed readiness of the 8th assembly to support women and individuals with special needs.
