Kogi Election: Governor Bello urges aspirants to play by rules

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has enjoined interested individuals in the Kogi governorship election to put the party first and play by the rules of the game.

The Governor made the plea at a parley with stakeholders of the ruling All Progressives Congress in the State ahead of the Governorship Primary of the party slated for April 14 , 2023.

The Independent National Electoral Commission had fixed November 2 for the conduct of governorship elections in Kogi and Bayelsa States.

The meeting was solely convened to brainstorm on how to achieve a peaceful primary in order to retain the dominance of the party in the state.

The Governor enjoined stakeholders and aspirants to “respect the rules of the game and to remember that the greater task is how the party will continue to do well in the state”.

Governor Bello said the party will make pronouncements and also take decisions towards ensuring a hitch-free primary in the state, urging party members to stop distracting the party with frivolous lawsuits.

He said whoever wins the ticket will work with all the other aspirants to win the Governorship poll as well as to move the state forward and build on his legacies.

He thanked the party stalwarts and members for ensuring the state was overwhelmingly delivered to the APC in the Presidential and National Assembly elections as well as the State House of Assembly poll, saying APC will continue to enjoy the support of Kogites.

The State Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Bello thanked the Governor for providing quality leadership that has made the party the number one choice of the Kogi people.

The meeting was attended by the outgoing, returning and newly elected National Assembly and State House of Assembly Members, State Executive Committee Members of the Party, Executive Chairmen of the 21 Local Government Areas in the State, Local Government Chairmen of the party in the state, Government Officials, other stakeholders and all the Governorship Aspirants gunning for the ticket of the party.
